Tags, custom fields, and lead lifecycle
Beyond the operational record, customers carry a light sales layer: tags, custom fields, and a lifecycle stage.
Tags
Tags are colored labels you attach to a customer — 'VIP', 'Saltwater', 'Referral', whatever you need. Filter the customer list by tag to work a segment at a time.
Custom fields
Custom fields are your own key/value notes on a customer (gate vendor, HOA contact, warranty date). Use them for anything the built-in fields don't cover.
Lifecycle stage vs. operational status
Lifecycle is a sales axis, separate from operational status. Lifecycle is one of Lead (a prospect not yet onboarded), Active (a customer you're servicing), or Inactive (dormant). Operational status — active / paused / cancelled — still controls whether stops and billing actually run. A Lead can sit in your pipeline without generating any service.
Lead source
Lead source records where a customer came from (Google, referral, door hanger) so you can see which channels actually convert.
Defaults and who can edit
Existing customers default to lifecycle Active. Only owners and office can edit tags, custom fields, and lifecycle — techs never see this sales layer.
